Merry Christmas – Eastern Orthodox version

And since the calendar that church runs on is older than ours, maybe there is wisdom, or at least tradition in today being the day to celebrate.

How many people just don’t seem ready for Christmas by Dec 25?  Lots of self-inflicted stress to get things done, and still we hear people who aren’t ready. Folks, I think the solution is obvious. Celebrate both days!

Do the fun stuff, the caroling, the concerts, parties, and family gatherings in the run up to Dec 25, and bag the presents part of the chaos until 13 days later! More time to actually enjoy the family/friends events. Might even help that ‘let there be peace on earth and let it begin with me’ goal.  Plus, you can take advantage of the ‘after Christmas sales’.

Why don’t some of us try it next year?

Of course, for some who are just now getting into the Halloween spirit, tinkering with traditional dates probably won’t help muck.

But, Happy Christmas. Again.

The children would have Freaked Out if they had to wait… I honestly only do Christmas for the children… 🙂
